Challenge
With conventional equipment, it was difficult to balance production speed and quality, and the long model changeover time, especially during product changeovers, was a problem. They were looking for a highly reliable solution that could achieve both rapid model changeovers and maintain high quality.
Solution
The introduction of a high-speed mounter suitable for the production of mobile devices has significantly improved mounting accuracy and line operating rates, and reduced changeover time from 60 minutes to 15 minutes. Downtime has also been reduced, resulting in improved product quality.

The important role of leading "Make in India"
Dixon Technologies has had to play a key role in promoting "Make in India," which is transforming India into a global manufacturing hub, and it has lived up to those expectations. "In order to continue growing, we needed to introduce the latest equipment," said COO Pankaj.
Balancing high productivity and quality in mass production
Dixon was facing the challenge of balancing high productivity with consistent quality. They also mentioned that the changeover times were quite long. Pankaj said, "Our previous equipment had limitations in mounting speed, line efficiency, and especially model changeover time when handling mass-produced products. We were looking for a reliable solution that could maintain rapid production scale-up without compromising quality at all."
Reason for introduction
Mr. Pankaj leaded the introduction of Panasonic SMT equipment, explains the reasons as follows.

"Because Panasonic can deliver a high-speed SMT solution suitable for large-scale mobile production. We were also looking for very strong technical support with production stability, automation, quick changeover times, and ongoing employee improvement training, and Panasonic was able to meet these expectations."

Effects
75% reduction in downtime, significant improvement in productivity
"Because Dixon produces a wide variety of products, there are a lot of production model changes, but we have been able to significantly reduce the time for these model changes, which has improved machine efficiency. We have reduced the changeover time from about 60 minutes with other machines to 15 minutes, which has contributed to cost reduction by reducing downtime."
Predictable maintenance function by software contributes to quality improvement
“After introducing Panasonic's SMT machines, we have seen remarkable changes and improvements in line throughput, mounting accuracy, and operating rate. Thanks to the rapid model changeover mentioned earlier, downtime and product quality have been greatly improved. Panasonic's software and predictable maintenance functions, centered on the production equipment and the operators working on the line, are helping to improve quality."
The Noida factory has 17 SMT lines, all of which use Panasonic mounters (approximately 10 units per line). The Dixon Group is using Panasonic SMT equipment in many of its 14 factories in India.
AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) have also been introduced in the factory to promote labor savings for line workers.
The Noida factory mounts small components for high-quality mobile devices. In addition to mobile devices, they also produce various other products.

Expectations for Panasonic is to lead growth across India
"We have 24/7 support from Panasonic, and engineers are stationed at our factory, which minimizes downtime even if a machine failure occurs.
